Videophone Cartoon
This is cartoon is something I stretched beyond my imagination– using a videophone when standing up instead of placing it on the table. After I drew it, I realized that a remote control is a quick solution. But then I thought Deaf people don’t need a superhero belt that holds several gadgets like wireless devices, a remote control, a battery charger and a pen and pad!
Anyway, summer has been busy for me especially moving to a new house!
On top of moving–both of my websites: www.mattdaigle.com and www.mdaigletoons.com will be reconstructed and upgraded soon. Please bear with all the chaos and blog posting during this transition.
In return for your patience, my “mdaigletoons” website will feature not four but 12 published cartoons from SIGNews. I encourage all deaf people to subscribe to this magazine–the only of its kind–to support deaf cartoonist and writers!

Enough? GPC Cartoon
This was an editorial cartoon published in SIGNews, April 2009 issue. After learning about a campaign for a new president at Gallaudet, I came up with an idea, merging with the American Gladiators TV show along with the presidential candidates. Wishing them luck!

Notifying Cartoon
Imagine that happening!? How embarrassing! But really I would prefer someone texting me instead of just walking up to me and pointing at my pants. It’s much less embarrassing. I hope someone is kind enough to text me the next time I have toilet paper on my shoe or spinach in my teeth.

Other Side Cartoon
Video Relay Services (VRS) bridges the communication gap between the deaf and hearing world. Sometimes I wonder about the VI agent’s. What do their surroundings looks like? The other side that we as deaf and hearing consumers do not see. Here is what my imagination came up with… yep, those are bunny slippers!

Endangered Cartoon
Another one of my editorial cartoons printed in SIGNews (March ’09 issue). Here I reflect on the closing of many deaf schools all over the nation to that of the deaf schools. Both endangered and disappearing at a rapid pace.

Order Calling Cartoon
Sometimes I wish restaurants could come up with a gesture like “this bag’s for you” instead of announcing over the intercom the order number again and again — only to discovery that order belongs to “That Deaf Guy”!
